Wonderful sea views over Kenmare Bay to the Caha Mountains and the Beara Peninsula.
The Ring O' Kerry Golf and Country Club, the famous Pat Spillane's Bar (impromptu Irish Traditional Music Sessions a regular occurance), Templenoe Pier and Coss Strand (pebble beach) are all within 1.5 k.m.
There's no shortage of local activities! Attractions include the many award winning restaurants and pubs of Kenmare town, forest walks, hill walking, mountain climbing, horse riding and pony trekking, trout / salmonfishing and deep sea fishing, sailing, kayaking and other water sports. The house is an excellent base for exploring the Ring of Kerry and the Ring of Beara. Day drives to Killarney National Park, Muckross House gardens and model farm, Gap of Dunloe, Healy Pass, Conor Pass, Glengarriff - Garnish Island, Bantry House, boat trips to Skellig Islands, Sneem, Derrynane, Dingle Peninsula etc. The Iveragh Peninsula is rich in archaeological heritage. Have a picnic - combine a visit to the great pre Christian ring fort at Staigue (not far from the beach at Castlecove) with a trip to the long sandy strand at historic Derrynane (birth place of Daniel O'Connell) towards the south western end of the Peninsula. Or do some nearby sightseeing in Kenmare town, where the Stone Circle is a hidden gem.
Well behaved dogs allowed in winter season by prior arrangement only following discussion with owner - mention at time of reservation (garden fronts onto quiet country road).
